Our beloved founder Thriu. M.AL. Alagappa Chettiar was born on 15th June 1912.He was the Managing Director of Chamundi Textiles (Silk Mills) Limited Ramanagaram,Karnataka State and India Packaging products Ltd; Bangalore and his name had been connected with several industries, Coffee plantations and charitable institutions.

Vision

Our founder was a benevolent philanthropist. It was his long cherished desire to start an English Medium School in Kottaiyur, Sivagangai District, Tamil Nadu, the village he hailed from. His aim was to contribute to the growth of this village by promoting a school that would serve the educational needs of children living in rural areas. He was eager to provide an all round education that developed laudable traits of reliance, adaptability, integrity, moral and social awareness.He was very enthusiastic about the development of children and interested in making them the true and worthy citizens of our motherland. He was eager to ensure the best for the children keeping in view their prospective pre-eminence in all fields of national reconstruction.

Mission

His dream materialized on June 1974. He started a Primary School in the small building of the local club. He named the school Muthiah Alagappa Matriculation School, in tribute to his father & grandfather. His mission was to ensure that the school be run effectively and efficiently for decades to come. This led to the formation of Chamundi Charity Trust which was entrusted with the task of running the school.
